This is one of those rare times where I’m really happy that I’m a movie reviewer because I watch films I normally wouldn’t go out of my way to see. From the title alone, I had no plans on seeing The Spy Who Dumped Me but to my surprise, it is such an enjoyable movie that I was happy that I had to go and see it.
I love the subversion of the spy genre in this movie. The usually male-dominated spy genre is usually turned on its head when the world of international espionage becomes the setting for some lovely women bonding moments. Mila Kunis and Kate McKinnon are a wonderfully paired duo who elevates an already wonderfully directed and written film into something that just feels fresh and new.
I won’t lie, the addition of Justin Theroux and Sam Heughan is also eye candy but this movie is all about the women and I loved it. I’m glad I got to catch it.
