Elizabeth Oropesa can still command an audience in Excuse Me Po

The first film of the CineFilipino that I got to watch this year (and one of two, it was a bad year for my schedule with these entries) and, again, it’s a great concept that wasn’t executed properly. It was an amazing story but the script felt very unsure of itself, explaining everything, and a character that didn’t know if it was a main character or a secondary character.

It could have been good. It could have been magnificent, really. But if Ronald Espinosa Battalones is a first time director, you could see the inexperience. The material was bigger than him at the moment.

And that’s fine. Growing pains. He’s going to be an excellent filmmaker in the future if he keeps going at it like this.
