first day, third term

It’s back to school for me today. The third term at the College of St. Benilde begins today and it’s been hot, I’m broke, I’m mentally exhausted, but I’m so happy to be back in class and teaching.

I’ve got two classes of FILM4TV this term and I know I’ve got some of my old students coming to take one of these classes but I’m going to have new ones coming in as well. This is going to be a fun trimester, I hope, because I’ve learned so many lessons from the first time I taught this class last term and I can’t wait to do all the stuff I plan to do with the kids.

We’re going to be watching a full season of a great show (I’m down to choosing between three shows) and there will be assignments, projects, the works. I plan to really try and engage them and get them to speak up.

I’ve fallen in love with the medium and I can’t wait to really get down to the nitty-gritty of serial narrative storytelling with them.

It’s a whole new term and I have renewed confidence in what I can do and what I can share with these kids. I got a lot of good feedback from everyone last term and I’m going to raise my game.

I’m so excited for this.
