I loved it, actually. It took awhile before I cued in on the heavy noir style that permeates through every episode. Jessica Jones is such a badass that I wanted her to be fighting more until I realized, she’s a detective and she doesn’t want to be a hero. This isn’t some action-packed superhero narrative. This is a detective story with strong dramatic elements in the noir style.
I saw the first five episodes by press screeners before the show was shown on Netflix. I have since seen all the episodes and I enjoyed it very, very much. I may have liked this more than the first season and I think I like this more than I did Daredevil season 2.
The drama is strong here and really well executed and the acting is superb all around. It’s great that they kept Jessica Jones from lightening up and raised the profile and screen time of the people who surround her — Carrie-Anne Moss (Jeri Hogarth), Rachael Taylor (Trish Walker), and the smoldering hot Eka Darville (Malcom) — giving them more to do and providing the necessary levity (but not by much, this is noir after all).
I really liked it and I hope I don’t have to wait another 3 years for the next season.
