Was able to catch another Cinema One Original Festival competition entry, the charming and off-beat Si Apple at si Chedeng. I can’t believe I missed Paki and Nervous Translation as I heard many great things about it but my schedule was crazy the past two weeks. But I was able to catch this movie and while still flawed, it was still charming and enjoyable.
Read my review here: Bristling with charm, ‘Si Chedeng at si Apple’ gets away with murder (InterAksyon).
It’s nice to see a film that is whimsical and light and breezy and handled so well. This is not an easy genre to pull off and there are stumbling blocks along the way, but it manages to keep all of its charm and pulls off a morally ambiguous ending. I’m happy to see more Filipino films like this.
