This is my first guest editor credit and I’m so proud. Late last month, the wonderful people of the Manila Bulletin Lifestyle section asked me to be the guest editor for the love issue of the Panorama. I was so happy to take it because I thought it would be amazing to do something like it. I’ve never done it before and I thought that it would be amazing to be the one to compile the stories for an issue.
How does one even begin to put together an issue about love that seems fresh and new when it is probably one of the most talked about thing in the world? How does one even begin to put together an issue about love when there is no definite definition that the world follows about this universal topic? Everyone loves differently. How does one do it?
So I decided to compile stories from artists. Art is an expression of our humanity. In the making of art, one finds the core of what it means to be human. Maybe they have, in their own individual processes, have insight into love that is deeper or more profound.
It is in that intersection between love and art that I hoped to touch upon with my selection of stories.
So I am happy to present to you Love/Craft.
Here’s my essay from the issue: Telling Stories.
