There is a wide, gaping hole at the centre of my chest,
a deep chasm where you struck me with the full force of you,
and it is hot to the touch and jagged along the edges.
I’ve been made open, revealed to have been empty inside
all this time, walking the city streets as a hollow man,
and that everything beautiful about me is only on the exterior.
You don’t even know me but you came at me like a meteor
breaking the world’s atmosphere to land on my chest
and tearing me apart and leaving this crater for all to see.
I’m exposed now and there is this opening in my body.
You smile at me and before you turn to walk away, you say,
“Now you can be filled with the wonders of the world.”
