reviews for Empire State and Divergent

Juice has been having trouble lately with their uploads. The server crashed last week and the editorial team’s schedule has been wrecked by the downtime and quite a bit of my work has yet to come out on the site. I feel a little sad about that. I haven’t been writing as much late February and most of March and I was hoping to make a sort of “comeback” but everything’s delayed.

But my reviews for Divergent and Empire State has been published and you can check them out here:

I kinda liked Divergent and I was expecting to. I’m already wary and completely over and done with the whole young adult genre but they are throwing so much money into the genre that they are getting top talent to act and direct in them and for a chance to see Kate Winslet in a science fiction adventure, and as a bad guy? I was all in.

I’ve been watching a lot of films lately and I’m studying my craft as much as I am passing the time and doing it for enjoyment. I watch all these films and I’ve discovered that reviewing them allows me to break them apart technically and find out why I liked them or why I disliked them. It allows me to study and understand filmmaking on such a basic level.

Of course, I have no idea if I am ever going to be able to write another movie again. I hope so, though. Because I really love the medium. But I’m working on other stuff too.

Only time will tell.
