These are two films I was looking forward to this year. I love George Clooney and Bill Murray and Matt Damon and John Goodman and, of course, Cate Blanchett but I feel like this is a good example of a film where the movie’s tone and treatment did not correspond or synch with its subject matter.
Winter’s Tale, on the other hand, I wanted to see because I love Colin Farrell and Jessica Brown Findlay and Jennifer Connelly and I have the utmost respect for Russell Crowe. I don’t like Akiva Goldsman and this made me apprehensive. But it’s a romantic movie with promises of magic but it failed to be anything of the sort. It was neither romantic nor magical.
