a Christmas poem

Scattered far and wide,

Miles and miles of land and sea

Between all of us

But the air still permeates

with the rush, the warmth, and the cheer.

Not even time zones

Can separate the spirit

Aching to feel love;

Not at this time of the year

Nothing will hinder this joy.

Even if alone

Know that somebody loves you

Like a winter’s chill.

No matter what you believe

It’s deep in your blood and bones.

This enormous world,

At this time of year, is one

In its hopes and dreams.

That is where we put our faith:

That we are all just the same.
