There’s no question, the Christmas season can be a chaotic rush. Traffic is horrendous, parking is a bitch, and the stores are filled to the brim with people trying to get all their Christmas shopping done, at the same time that you are doing your Christmas shopping. But all the Christmas decorations and the fact that people are out buying stuff for other people and seeing their friends and having a great time gets to me.
It can be very materialistic; but it is also a time for great joy and a wonderful warm feeling that erupts from the chest (not the gut) that just fills you up and sends a rush of electricity through your synapses.
I love Christmas because families make an extra effort to get together and I am extremely close to my family. We don’t force anyone to come together but everybody tries. I love that.
And people are generally nicer to each other. I like that too. Like, we can see the inherent goodness in each other and it reminds us that we work as hard as we do for times like this.
I’m really a big softie at heart and while I will be going out a lot the next few days to have special little get-togethers with good friends and family; I won’t complain about the traffic and the mass of people all over the place. I have the Christmas Spirit inside me right now and I’m just happy to be alive.
I’m just happy to be celebrating another Christmas with the people that I love all safe and sound and doing okay. That’s all I really need this Christmas.
