fullness of the moon

Bright and full, watching

unblinking eye in the night,

like a silent, watchful lover,

who asks for nothing in return

and returns each evening when the sun sets.

And when the moon falls asleep

what is it that he dreams of?

And who watches over him as he slumbers?

How I wish to be as steadfast as the moon,

to be as unflinching in my desire

and to have someone to watch over;

shining brightly in the darkness,

even if it is just a reflection of a brighter star

and never wanting gratitude

and to know when to bow out

when the darkness exits

as the Earth turns.
