I hide in plain sight.
I creep in the darkness, unseen,
and in day light, stand out in the open,
and draw no attention to myself.
But you did not see me
bring a green worn out sleeping bag
into the premises.
A battery operated reading light,
two pillows, a water bottle,
and all the unsent letters I’ve written
I watch you unnoticed.
You can barely hear my gasp
when you walk a few inches past me.
At night, I take residence
in the comforts of your territory.
This covert violation
is the only transgression I will commit.
It goes no further than this.
I’m not capable of any more.
All I am
is a passive vagrant
in your heart.
